FURUHOLT COTTAGE
THE COTTAGE
The cottage has two bedrooms on the lower floor that sleeps four people. In the attic there are two beds and extra mattresses, so in total the house should comfortably sleeo arount 6-10 people. The cottage is fully stocked with all home appliances and tableware. In a garage next to the house you have a washer and dryer. A hot top on the veranda and a gas grill. The cottage is fully handicapped accessable and has one hospital bed as well as railings in the restrooms and bathroom chair. The cottage is rented from 16:00 on Friday til 12:00 the next Friday.
LOCATION
The cottage is situated on the south side of Vestmannsvatn in Reykjadal. From highway 845 there are about 600 metrar towards the cottage. Signes are clearly marked on the highway marked Furuholt.
SURROUNDING AREA
In Laugar there is small grocery store along with a restaurant, a pool and a gas station. In Húsavík there is a variety of services such as grocery store, bakery, liquor store, restaurants and a variety of other things of interest. Also nearby is Goðafoss, so it’s ideal to drive into Bárðardal: the longest valley in Iceland. And from there to the Aldeyjar waterfall that is short drive into Route F26 or Sprengisandsleið. In the nearby Grenjarstað is a folk museum in a traditional and stately turf farmhouse. Additionally it’s a short way away from lake Mývatn, where among other things there are the Myvatn Nature Baths or see Sigurgeir’s Bird Museum in the Ytri-Nesland. From there it’s also great to take the Diamond Circle by the Arctic Fox plain (Melrakkaslétta) all way out to Hraunhafnartangi the northern most point in Iceland, stopping on the way at Kópasker, Raufarhöfn and Þórshöfn. In Húsavík there a number of interesting museums along with being the hub of whale watching in Iceland. Further information can be found at. www.nordausturland.is
